Resident Assistants and Programs Assistants are essential members of the Rachel Carson College Student Life Team that work to establish a safe and inclusive community here at Rachel Carson College. Each position has it’s own unique roles and responsibilities so interested applicants are asked to read the job description of each role before applying to ensure they fully understand what each position requires. It is also highly recommended that applicants attend an information session.

Information Sessions - Tuesday, January 8 & Wednesday, January 9, 7:30-8:30PM, RCC Red Room

Application DUE  - Sunday, January 20 at midnight

Interview Sign-ups - TBA

Group Process - January 26, 2018, 9AM-3PM, RCC Red Room

Individual Interviews - January 30 - Feburary 8 

Offer Letters Sent to Candidates - Friday, March 8, end of day

Hiring Decision - Friday, March 15

How to Apply

Applicants must complete the following items in order to be included in the interview process:

  1. Application
    • Apply here. 
    • References
      • On your application you be asked to include the name and email of two references. One reference should be a staff or faculty member of the university that is willing to provide a short reference for your application. This reference must have a UCSC email, and IS NOT your RA/PA, or other member of the Rachel Carson College Student Life team. The second reference may be of your choice. A link to the reference form will be emailed direcly to both references after the application deadline. 
    • Resume
      • Create and submit a resume. Resumes will be uploaded via the Application form in .doc or PDF format ONLY.
  2. ER Application
    • In addition to your application through Rachel Carson, please submit an application to the on-campus employment ER System.
  3. Group Interview
    • Group Interview | January 26, 2018 | 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
      The start and end time will vary depending on the number of applicants so all applicants should block their schedule from 8am-5pm on this day. The group interview process includes completing a number of activities with an assigned group. 
  4. Individual Interviews | January 30 - February 8
    1. During the scheduled interview time, applicants should come to BL at least 5 minutes early and take a seat in the lobby outside of the Housing Office. A staff member conducting the interview will come to the lobby to get applicants when they are ready. 

Decision Letters and Mandatory Spring Training
Letters regarding the committee’s hiring decisions will go out on Friday, March 9th, 2018. They will come out via email at this time. Those that are offered a position will have until Wednesday, March 14th to accept or decline the offer. Those that are hired for a position will also be asked to apply for the position through the campus’s ER system housed on the career services website.

Offers of employment are conditional and completion of the Spring Training is required for all hires and alternates. Training will take place the first 5 Mondays of the Spring Quarter from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. in the Red Room. Applicants are asked to please hold this time in your calendar and do not schedule class or other things at this time.
